  • Professor Anna Hickey-Moody

    RMIT University, Maynooth University

    Anna is a Professor of Media and Communication at RMIT University where they are based in the Digital Ethnography Research Centre. There, Anna leads a group called the Creative Research Interventions in Methods and Practice (CRIMP) Research Collective. She is an internationally renowned researcher and has an incredible amount of experience and knowledge. She is most known for her work with young people who are LGBTIQA+, young people with disabilities, young refugee and migrants, those who are economically and socially disadvantaged, and men who are excluded from society.

  • Associate Professor Joel Windle

    University of South Australia

    Joel is an Associate Professor at the University of South Australia in Education. He focuses on cultural and linguistic (language) diversity, especially in working on how to make school curriculum more inclusive. Joel is most known for his work on language and literacy education in Australian and Brazilian schools as well as his work in race and racialisation. He is an internationally recognised expert in applied linguistics and the sociology of education.

  • Professor Katherine Johnson

    RMIT University

    Katherine is the Dean of the School of Global, Urban and Social Studies at RMIT University. She has quite a lot of experience in academic leadership, and she is a leading researcher in LGBTQ+ health and mental health interventions for LGBTQ+ youth. Katherine’s work focuses on exploring the connections between community psychology, psychosexual and sexuality studies.

  • Professor Alphia Possamai-Inesedy

    Western Sydney University

    Alphia is the Pro Vice Chancellor of Engagement and Advancement and Professor of Sociology at Western Sydney University. She is also the President of the Australian Sociological Association and the inaugural Chair of the Social Justice Network, her focus also looks towards increasing equity and social justice. Alphia is committed to academic leadership, equity access to higher education, and social justice and community engagement.

  • Lizzie Maughan

    University of South Australia

    Lizzie recently completed their PhD at Flinders University on gender diversity and early years education.  They are an activist researcher with interests, heavily influenced by their own experiences, in gender and neurodiversity.  Lizzie consults on gender expansive practices and is a co-convenor of the AARE Gender Sex and Sexuality SIG.  

  • Margaret Lovell

    University of South Australia

    Margaret Lovell is a PhD candidate with the University of South Australia’s Centre for Research in Educational and Social Inclusion. Currently working as a sessional academic and Research Assistant across several social justice projects, Margaret’s PhD research focusses on racisms, social justice, Whiteness, and colonialism in education.

  • James Gardiner

    Western Sydney University

    James' research interests include youth, gender and sexuality, critical approaches to wellbeing, digital media, and qualitative and participatory research methods. He has worked as a research assistant at the University of Technology Sydney and the University of British Columbia, and is an experienced teacher in the fields of Cultural Studies, Gender Studies, and Youth Studies.

  • Dr Alexandra Ciaffaglione

    RMIT University

    Alex is a Research Assistant and educator at RMIT University and completed her PhD last year. Alex’s research focuses on the relationships between religion, sexuality, and identity in religious schools. She works as a casual relief teacher in secondary schools across Melbourne’s western and northern suburbs. Alex is also a co-convenor of RMIT University’s LGBTIQA+ Research Network and has served on School and College level councils.
